Abomination

In order to the proof whereof, First, As the Quakers have declared, That their Adverſaries may as well burn the Scriptures as their Books; under pretence, That their Books are given forth by the ſame Power and Spirit the Holy Scriptures proceeded; for which Cauſe they are ready to vindicate them with their Blood, when called to it.1

If to add to ſuch Books and Papers as are thus given forth by the Power and Spirit of God, be ſuch an abominable Crime as they that commit it are to have the Plagues written in the Book of Life added to them as their Portion for, according to Revel. xxii. 18. and the Quakers own Sentiments.2

Then thoſe our depraved Ones, having (according to the abominable Precedents of the ancient Hereticks and Primitive Chriſtians complain'd of) not only added ſeveral Words and Lines, but alſo {Page 175} divers whole Pages of ſome of their own Friends Books, &c. as were ſet forth under the pretence above-mentioned, not only without the Author's Conſent, but alſo againſt their Good-liking; Thoſe our depraved Quakers are guilty of ſuch Abomination, as they are to expećt the Plagues mentioned in the Book of Life added as their Portion for, according to Holy Scripture, and their own Confeſſions. Again,3

2dly. If to take away from the Words of ſuch Propheſies, &c. as were delivered by the Authors as the immediate Word of God to the Nations, be ſuch an abominable Aćt, as the Parties guilty on't are to have their Part taken not only out of the Book of Life, but alſo God's Holy City for, caccording to Revel. xxii. 19, &c. and the Quakers own Doćtrine.

Then thoſe our depraved Ones not only taken our ſeveral Words, Lines and Pages but alſo expunged divers whole Epiſtles and Books out of the publick Collećtions of their approved Friends Works, ſet forth by the Authors as the immediate Dićtates of the eternal Word of God, in their first Impressions; thoſe our depraved Quakersare therein alſo guilty of ſuch Abominations as they are to have their Part taken out of the Book of Life, and God's Holy City for, according to the above-mentioned Texts, and their own Confeſſions.4

All which abominable Praćtices, amongſt many others if the ſame nature, though they have been moſt juſtly expoſed for, in p. 203, 304. of the 3d Part of Fr. Bugg's Great Mystery and Finishing Stroke, {Page 176} by way of Prologue, amongſt others of their Opponents Books inſtaanc'd in the Margin; yet are they ſo far from repenting of the ſame, according to their Chriſtian Duty, as that they add to the ſcore of thoſe their Abominations by others if their vile Enormities, of which as my foregoing of their villanous Tranſaćtions, in which they ſtill perſiſt may be allowed good Evidence; ſo to paſs by their moſt scandalous Church Cenſures againſt their own profeſs'd Members unheard, whilſt they moſt ignominouſly refuſe to subject themſelves to a juſt Examination upon a regular Citation, in order to their deſerved one. 5

What more abominable than for them to let ſuch of their Anitchriſtian Innovations remain uncancell'd , as true Christian Diſcipline for us to ſubject to, under the penalty if our Excluſion from Church Communion; as they have more than once occasionally renounced and condemned as Unrighteous, Unlawful, Inexpedient and Unchristian; for which with the rest of their Abominations in Doćtrine, Diſcipline and Praćtice, they may expećt their Reward according to their Demerits, unleſs prevented by their ſpeedy Repentance; the which as I heartily wiſh they may come to manifeſt, whilſt they have Time and Place for it; ſo in order thereto, ſhall next deſcend to ſhow them the Conſequences of thoſe their Enormities, by the Confuſion they are thereby involv'd in; the which, if they may not obtain my above-mention'd righteous End on them, I hope the Conſiderationthereof will be a perpetual Warning to themſelves and others, how they venture to run on thoſe Rocks of Imagination thro implicit pursuit of their Foxonian Impertinencies that have ſo fatally ſplit them. In the mean while muſt tell thoſe our depraved Quakers, That if it be abominable for Perſons to aſſume to themſelves Power, Authority and Government over others, in commanding and impoſing in Matters Spiritual over their Consciences, in God's Worſhip or Service, as their Friend Burrows in his Epistle {Page 177} to their Friend Caton's Cloud of Witneſſes, hath affirmed; then they having aſſumed that Power, Authority and Government ,k in impoſing Conformity on their Diſſenting Friends, in Matters Spiritual againſt their Consciences, by their audacious Church Censures, &c. for their Nonconformity; as well as in forbidding them to Print or Sell Books amongſt us in their Defence, according to that Popish Precedent their Friend Caton (in his ſaid Cloud) complains of as abominable; Thoſe our depraved Quakers are guilty of Abomination, by thoſe their own Friend's Confeſſions; of which thoſe that would ſee more maycompare p. 13. if Fr. Bugg's Finiſhing Stroke, with p. 45 to p. 51. of his News from New-Rome, and there find enough to ſurfeit them. Wherefore 6
